Most people know that I was a nanny for nearly a decade before becoming a doula. But, I bet you didn't know that I reprised my role as a nanny since then. In 2017 my mother fell ill and I had to put my doula business on hold to care for her. Of course that meant I needed lots of flexibility and steady income. Due to the pandemic, that work was extended because of school closures. If I'm honest, I was terribly sad to leave this family because of how well we meshed and bonded. The parents really did care for and consider ME as a person as well as my family. I can't tell you how grateful I was to have found them. It was that last experience that made me want to do more even though I was already a certified doula and had been for years.
Aside from supporting families through pregnancy, birth and the first few weeks of postpartum, my greatest task when assisting clients is helping them find quality, affordable childcare. Finding childcare was an issue I dealt with as a new parent too. Especially since I have no family close by. And after nearly 12 years, it has not improved in any significant way. I am hoping to remedy that with NOIR NANNIES. Noir Nannies was a mere idea just a year ago. Now I am moving ahead full steam with this dream and I am looking to connect with nannies, babysitters and families to help lessen the stress of finding childcare. Noir Nannies is an extension of Best of Both Worlds Doula Services and will provide BIPOC nannies and babysitters for BIPOC families. Vetted and trained childcare provider profiles will be available to families to review for occasional and regular childcare. Families will pay a small monthly membership fee for this service. I have always prided myself on the the personalized care I give my clients and I plan to continue this with Noir Nannies. Noir Nannies is set to officially launch in Spring 2023. If you are a BIPOC babysitter or nanny 17 years+ located in the Triangle area, I'd love to connect! If you are interested in learning more about becoming an affiliate of Noir Nannies, complete this interest form. If you are a BIPOC family in need of childcare, please complete this family inquiry form. For more questions and more information, please email me at [email protected] Sharing is caring!
